First $1,657 Social Security payments of 2022 will ship from Wednesday

IF your birthday falls before January 10, your first Social Security Cost of Living (COLA) payment will be sent tomorrow.

From Wednesday the coke payments will be 5.9 percent higher in 2022 than in 2021.

This increase, effective January 1, follows the largest cost-of-living adjustment since 1982; an increase of $92 for retirees.

retired employees will now see their monthly checks rise from $1,565 to $1,657.

To make sure payments are smooth, payments are sent in three waves based on the recipient’s date of birth.

Anyone born between the 1st and the 10th of their month of birth will receive their social security benefits tomorrow, January 12th.

Recipients born anywhere between the 11th of their month of birth through the 20th of the month will receive their payment on the third Wednesday of the month – January 19.

Finally, persons born on the 21st of the month or later receive their benefits on the fourth Wednesday of the month. This month it is January 26.

The spouses of retired employees get a $47 boost, with average payments going from $794 to $841.

Disabled workers get an extra $75 on average as their check rises from $1,253 to $1,358 per month.

Meanwhile, the SSA has also confirmed that the maximum amount of income is subject to: Social security tax will increase this month.

This will increase from $142,800 to $147,000, reflecting an increase in average wages.

This means that employees with a high salary pay tax on a larger part of their income.
