Wyo Opinions: Readers’ Letters Sound on Republican Party, Cheney, ART 321 and Social Security

Wyominig organizers turn to the public to rally support for marijuana initiatives (Greg Kearney)

The Republican Party

First they came for socialists and I said nothing because I was not a socialist. Then they came for the union members, and I didn’t say anything because I wasn’t a unionist. Then they came for the Jews and I said nothing because I was not a Jew. Then they came for me and there was no one left to speak for me.

This was written by Martin Niemöller, a German Lutheran minister in the 1930s, referring to Adolf Hitler and the Nazi party, and no one was listening.

If you just confuse the words “socialists” with “Muslims” and “unionists” with “brown immigrants” and Jews with “black life matters,” you have Donald Trump and the Republican Party.

wyo. reprimands Liz Cheney

It seems to me that instead of reprimanding Cheney, Wyo should praise her for what she does and has done.

James Madison told us we are a nation of constitution and laws, not a nation of a narcissist and a rebellion. Mike Pence recognized that. Cheney too.

Wyoming?? Stand up.

ART 321

I don’t like the changes at ART 321!

My mother and mother-in-law were already involved with the club before it was called ART 321. Performers happily took part in the show, bringing old and young alike. No longer!

Why would I go and watch someone self-mutilate as a performance? That is sick and demonic.

Social Security changes Bennifits to fit there Need

In March, when I was notified by SS of a supposedly overpaid amount, I called the Social Security Bureau and asked what kind of benefits I was receiving, as I had received paperwork in 2018 from when I received supplemental income as person with a disability and pension.

At the time, the gentlemen I spoke to said my benefits were as the paperwork stated. Confused because in 2018 I was also told by this gentleman that when receiving a disability I did not have to claim any profit or an inheritance. So now they have accused me of this overpayment and taken all my earnings from June to November.

I call again with the same gentlemen who tell me that my benefits are SSDI (Social Security Disability Insurance) which are not profits, but I am getting SSDI allowance for disability no matter and I am not receiving pension until now.

It’s strange how the paperwork and his statement in 2018 in which he claimed I was now retiring has changed.

At 66 years old, he said I was almost there. Do they actually change your benefits to their budget? To me this is fraud. They are the ones who scam and scam the elderly and SS clients. I have several documents from 2018 stating that I will receive SSDI and pension. And yet the same employee who verified my benefit in 2018 and again in March 2021 is claiming a different benefit. I believe that SSA changes rules and benefits here in Casper when it ever meets their needs. Everyone should check your benefits, sometimes mistakes are made. Getting the SSA office to admit their mistake is another.
