Sánchez Gets Another 30 Seconds Of Conversation With Biden At G-20 Start

The G-20 summit that is held in Rome has left a new image of the Prime Minister, Pedro Sánchez , together with the President of the United States, Joe Biden , with whom he spoke briefly this Saturday at the beginning of the plenary session.

Both leaders have participated in the family photo of those attending this summit, and it was later, at the time when the leaders were going to take a seat in the first joint meeting, when the graphic media present there were able to capture that greeting and that relaxed talk that barely lasted 30 seconds .

As the released images show, after a handshake, the president of the United States placed his right hand on Sánchez’s left shoulder (with a mask unlike Biden) while he held his arm, and then they talked smiling for half a minute.

According to sources from Moncloa, the images show the cordiality of the meeting , which explains that it was a typical greeting between two leaders who meet at a summit of these characteristics and in which they exchange a few words.

Although Biden has held several bilateral meetings with other European leaders taking advantage of the framework of the G-20 summit in Rome, this time Sánchez has not requested any meeting with the American, according to sources from Moncloa.

The image between Sánchez and Biden in Rome was the first after the one captured on June 14 at NATO headquarters, a highly commented meeting lasting just one minute on which Sánchez came to emphasize that they discussed up to four topics .

Later, on August 21, they held a telephone conversation in which they agreed on Spanish assistance for the evacuation of collaborators with the United States from Afghanistan , for which Spain made the bases of Rota and Morón available to them, a gesture that Biden publicly praised. .

The president of the United States has also invited Sánchez to participate this Sunday in an event that he has organized on the margins of the G20 summit to analyze the problems on supply chains that are causing shortages worldwide.

Likewise, in the family photo prior to the start of the plenary session, Sánchez had the opportunity to exchange various greetings with other leaders such as German Chancellor Angela Merkel ; and the Prime Ministers of the United Kingdom, Boris Johnson ; the Indian Prime Minister, Narendra Modi; the one from Canada, Justin Trudeau ; and the President of Turkey, Recep Tayyip Erdogan .

In the absence of official confirmation, Sánchez is scheduled to travel to Turkey on November 17 to hold a meeting with Erdogan.
